God is in Country Music
Reba, Dolly, Alan Jackson, Carrie Underwood. Those are some with new great songs out.
Back to God is Reba’s, Dolly Parton comes on strong at the end of Zach Williams singing There Was Jesus. Be a Light is a threesome of Thomas Rett, Keith Urban and Reba McIntyre.
Carrie Underwood sings Let There Be Peace
As for Alan Jackson, I would do the entire album and get the version that shares his daughter’s tribute to him as a father who lead them to have strong relationships with Jesus and each other and their communities and beyond. Tears will show up, get tissues and keep handy. God’s Country by Blake Shelton. People are Crazy by Billy Currington. Funny lyrics God is Great, Beer is Good, People are Crazy. Can’t help but laugh out loud in the times of new rules and changing rules, interpretation of rules, depending on what city or state or country for that matter you are in.
Thank you Lord, Chris Thomlin is new this year. Alabama has a remake of Angels Among Us singing with a childrens choir. Having close of military connections, the song by Toby Keith, American Soldier with video is emotional by endearing to watch and listen to. God’s Will by Martina McBride leaves you contemplating. My personal favorite at the moment is If You’re Going Through Hell by Rodney Atkins. “if you’re going through hell, keep on going, don’t slow down. If your’re scared, don’t show it. You might get out before the devil even knows you’re there”. Another line “if you’re going through hell, keep on moving, , face that fire, walkright through it. You might get our before the devil even knows you’re there”.
Honorable Mention is a song of victory in the Lord, , artist Josh Turner. Great voice sings of neighbors arguing, lonely old man surrounded by possessions but no relationship with God. In the video there are many visual scenarios of people overcoming temptation of getting on the long black train. It’s a conquering condemnation, all level at the foot of the cross. After all Jesus said to the guy on the cross, “today you will be with me in Paradise”. No baptism or rituals, just confession he deserved to be there and knew Jesus was the son of God.
Pray and inspire more country artists to tell stories of faith and reach the world with their music. Thank you Lord for their talent, direct them to lift the voices and hearts and minds to you so others long to have that relationship of joy, grace, forgiveness and get off the ladder of deeds. Amen
